MISSION STATEMENT:
About The RedStar Pilots Association ("RPA")
The RedStar Pilots Association is a Federal 501(c) (3) Not-For-Profit registered in the state of Virginia. The association mission is to promote and preserve the safe operation, display and enjoyment of all aircraft, jet to prop, aerobatic, sport, warbird and utility, especially those originating in the current and former communist block nations. The RPA strives to function as a clearing house for information related to maintenance and safe operation of our aircraft. Through our designated Check Pilots and Instructor Pilots we develop standards, principles and techniques for training member pilots in the operation of their aircraft and in formation flying.
Through our web site, our national officers and our regional directors, we link member pilots in order to identify issues and concerns, provide training opportunities and organize events that provide resources and foster camaraderie.
We are an FAA-sanctioned signatory to the Formation And Safety Team body known by the abbreviation; F.A.S.T. This position allows us to train, qualify and manage civilian formation pilots in the United States and Canada for the safe conduct of formation flight displays in the US and Canadian air show industry. Pilots the world over benefit from formation training at all levels while the public interest is maintained through our efforts at training safer aviators. Membership is open to all pilots, aircraft owners and enthusiasts. You do not need to own an Eastern Block aircraft to become a full member.

ASSOCIATION FORMATION RATING PATCH:™
The association uses three nearly identical patch designs to show members FAST formation rating. Each has a unique colored checker-board set diagonally behind the Red Star. Green denotes a Wing qualified member, Blue for Lead qualified, Yellow for RPA Formation Instructors and Red for Check Airmen. Wing, Lead and Check Airman qualifications are required by the National FAST program. Our Instructor rating applies to RPA Clinics and Training events. A FAST card is also issued each calendar year. The new membership card for all members will display the National FAST round logo for formation rated pilots of the association.
